The scope was to design a new corporate visual identity for JP/Politikens Hus. This media house rest on a long and strong tradition in publishing, with the newspapers: Jylland-Posten, founded in 1871, Politiken in 1884, and Denmark’s main tabloid Ekstrabladet.

JP/Politiken Media Group is one of Denmarks leading media groups. Formed by the merger of two private trusts, it exists to »equip citizens with facts and knowledge that make them better able to take an active part in a democratic society«.

Today JP/Politiken Media Group is international and operates in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany and the UK.

Another important part of the project was to modernise the media house site: jppol.dk. The project included a new structure, design, type and visuals.

»Only the imagination limits what a fifth element can be«

An inspiration for the project was the famous Barcelona pavilion, designed by Mies Van de Rohe, in 1929 with the modernistic idea of an open house only hold up with the pillar.

It gave me the idea to the logo form; to use the typographic slash form, in a straight stroke line, with the ruler on top of the name to create same form as a pillar that holds up the ‘open roof’ and ruler above the logotype name; JP/Politikens Hus.

The logo and the visual identity is based on the typeface »Graphik«, designed by Commercial type, who I also asked to design a logo typeface to make the project easier to maintain.

For the site project I created a visual concept with black and white portraits that are presented with the brand message: »We create enlightened citizens«.

JP/Politiken Media Group strive to aim for a workplace that cares about diversity.

The visual concept is also to show news photography on site at the section:”Core publications and businesses”, that continuously updates with recent news photography.

The corporate design and all stationery was designed by the studio and updated with visual design for corporate presentations in 2021 and 2022.
