I’m happy to share Aftonbladet brand refresh has been awarded with a bronze medal in the SND 47 competition, highlighting the world’s best news design and news media’s brand design. Aftonbladet is Swedens largest newsbrand.
The jury motivation; ”The judges described the campaign as a strong brand refresh that leans into the Aftonbladet’s history and heritage, with thoughtful typography and a cohesive execution across platforms…”
The project scope of Aftonbladet brand refresh was to create a logo design that works for the visual brand design in 360 degree to all products, sub brands and communication. An equally important media brand is Sportbladet, Swedens largest sport destination that the studio also designed. To keep the brand coherent and prepare it for future needs we suggested the redraw of the full logo typeface.
An important part of the work was to develope a detailed brand book that explains everything from guidelines for building new logotypes on the fly to recommendations for the optical sizes and icons.
The studio’s aim was to give Aftonbladet’s brand visual identity more punch in both the nameplate and to make the short logo adapt better into the world of modern news storytelling on video, podcast and SoMe and the studio collaborated with Commercial type, New York.
